1. Introduction
Welcome to GridGlance. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information GridGlance collects, how it is used, and what rights you have. GridGlance does not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or precise location.
2. Information We Collect
Information stored only on your device
The following preferences are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted off-device by GridGlance:
- Selected season, theme mode (light/dark), and notification preferences
- Favorite driver and favorite team selections
- Race predictions you submit (qualifying top 3 and race podium)
- Cached race, standings, and weather data
Anonymous usage data (analytics)
To understand how the app is used and improve it, we collect anonymous usage events through PostHog. This includes:
- App interactions such as theme toggles, season changes, setting a favorite, sharing a card, adding a home-screen widget, submitting a prediction, and exporting to calendar
- Diagnostic information automatically attached to events: app version and build, operating system and version, device model, screen size, language, and network type
- A randomly generated identifier (a UUID) that distinguishes one app install from another
These events do not include your name, email, contacts, precise location, or your favorite driver/team selections. The random identifier is generated locally on your device and is not linked to any account or hardware identifier.
Crash reports
If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, we collect a crash report through Sentry. Reports include the stack trace, app version and build, operating system version, device model, and a small amount of context about what the app was doing when the error occurred. We do not include personally identifying information in crash reports.
Approximate location
Our analytics provider may infer your approximate region (country level) from your IP address when receiving events. We do not request precise (GPS) location, and we do not store your IP address.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To understand which features are used and how, so we can improve the app
- To detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and bugs
- To respond to support questions or feedback you send us
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Your Choices
Opt out of analytics
You can disable anonymous usage data collection at any time inside the app:
About → Privacy → Send anonymous usage data (turn the switch off).
When the switch is off, no analytics events are sent. Crash reports remain enabled so we can keep fixing crashes; if you also want crash reporting disabled, contact us at the email below and we will provide a build with telemetry disabled or remove your install’s data.
Request deletion of your data
Because GridGlance does not have user accounts, the data we hold is not directly linked to your real identity. If you would like us to delete the events associated with your install, email us at info.gridglance@gmail.com with the subject line “Data deletion request”. We will remove the matching events from our analytics and crash-reporting providers within 30 days and reply to confirm.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own purposes. We use the following service providers, which process data on our behalf under their respective data processing agreements:
- PostHog — product analytics. posthog.com/privacy
- Sentry — crash and error reporting. sentry.io/privacy
- Google Play and Apple App Store — app distribution and store-level metrics, governed by their own privacy policies
- Jolpica F1 API and Open-Meteo — public data sources GridGlance queries for race and weather information; standard HTTP request metadata (such as your IP address) may be visible to these services as part of normal network requests
6. Data Storage & Security
App preferences, favorites, predictions, and cached race data are stored locally on your device. Analytics events and crash reports are transmitted over HTTPS and stored by our service providers on their servers. Crash reports are automatically deleted after 30 days, and analytics events are retained for up to 12 months. You can request earlier deletion of the events associated with your install at any time — see Section 4. We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect this information.
7. Children’s Privacy
GridGlance is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to processing or request data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate any changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
